First Time Users

First time users must enter their customer information before they can logon to ILLiad.
  • From the Interlibrary Home Page select on either "Register Here" or "First Time Users" take you to a registration page for first time users. (If you have already used ILLiad please do not logon as a First Time User again. ILL staff can reset your password or remind you of your username.)
  • Press the button "First Time Users Click Here" at the bottom of the page.
  • A New User Registration Form will appear. Please fill out the required fields..
  • Please make sure you enter your "home mailing address" in the address field.
  • The regsitration form will ask you to input your current Mville ID number twice. Please make sure that you type in the number exactly as it appears on your Mville ID card (including the beginning zeros). Your Mville ID number will be your Username in ILLiad.
  • Choose a password. Make it something you can remember. Please remember your password is case sensitive.
  • After entering your user information press the "Submit Information" button at the bottom of the page.
  • If an error has been made, an error message will appear at the top of the page. If necessary, fix the needed fields and press the "Submit Information" button again.
  • Your ILLiad Main Menu Patron Web page will then appear.
  • You should now be able to use ILLiad.  The next time you want to use ILLiad you should proceed directly to the logon page.  Please do not logon as a First Time User again. ILL staff can reset your password or remind you of your username.  One you are registered you will need to enter only your username and password to use ILLiad.  Please remember that your password is case sensitive.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [proceeded by your Mville ID number] at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Requesting an Article

Please check our E-Journals portal and CastleCat Connect to be certain that the article you need is not already available at the Manhattanville College Library.

  • Logon using your username and password. The ILLiad Main Menu Patron Web page will open.
  • Press the button "Journal Article" to open a journal article request form.
  • Enter as much information about the item you are requesting as possible. Please make sure you fill out all required fields. The more information given, especially the ISSN/ISBN number, the faster the searching process will be for Interlibrary Loan staff.
  • If you have additional information, enter that information in the notes field.
  • After entering all the information, press the  "Submit Request" button. If you have made a mistake simply edit the field in question. If you have already submitted the request see Editing a Request.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Please remember to submit a separate request for each item

Requesting a Book

Please check CastleCat to be certain that the book you need is not already held and available at the Manhattanville College Library.

  • Logon using your username and password. The ILLiad Main Menu Patron Web page will open.
  • By using the top page links and search boxes you have yet another opportunity to re-check the Manhattanville College Library's catalog to ensure that the book that you are requesting is not already held and available at Manhattanville.
  • To request a book press the "Request a Book" button to open a request form.
  • Enter as much information about the item you are requesting as possible. Please make sure you fill out all required fields. The more information given, especially the ISSN/ISBN number, the faster the searching process will be for Interlibrary Loan staff.
  • If you have additional information, enter it in the notes field.
  • After entering all the information, press the button "Submit Request". If you have made a mistake, simply edit the field in question. If you have already submitted the request see Editing a Request.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Please remember to submit a separate request for each item.

View/Modify Outstanding Requests

  • Outstanding Requests are requests still being processed by the Interlibrary Loan Office. They do not include items that are checked out, cancelled, or articles that you have already received.
  • Logon to ILLiad using your username and password.
  • Under "View" click on " Outstanding Requests" button. Select the transaction number button for the request to display a detailed information page.
  • From here you may edit the request by click on the "Edit Request" button and change the existing information or providing additional information. See Editing a Request.
  • You may also check the status of a request by selecting the transaction number button and scrolling to the bottom of the page.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Renewing an Item

  • Logon to ILLiad using your username and password.
  • Under "View" press the button "Checked Out Items" to display everything checked out to your username.
  • Select the item that you wish to renew by pressing the transaction number button to the left. You will then see detailed information about that request.
  • Check to see if renewals are allowed (there is a question towards the bottom of the page "Renewals Allowed?"). If renewals are allowed, press the button "Request Renewal" at the top right hand corner of the screen. If renewals are not allowed, please return the book as soon as possible to prevent receiving overdue letters.
  • After renewing a request, you will be notified that "This item has been renewed" and the additional amount of time of the allotted.
  • Once the item has been renewed the due date will automatically reflect a renewal date and the "Renewals Allowed?" answer will change to "no".
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Editing a Request

  • Logon to ILLiad using your username and password.
  • Under "View" press the "Outstanding Requests" button to display your active requests.
  • Select the request you wish to edit by pressing the transaction number button at the left of the page. You will then see detailed information about that request.
  • The request can be edited as long as the status of the request has not reached the status of "Request Sent" (this can be determined by checking the status of the item at the bottom of the page).
  • Press the "Edit Request" button at the top right hand corner of the page to open the request form. To edit the request, enter the additional information in the appropriate fields.
  • Press the "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the page.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear displaying a message confirming that your request has been updated successfully.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]"at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Canceling a Request

  • Logon to ILLiad using your username and password.
  • Under "View" press the "Outstanding Requests" button to display your active requests.
  • Select the request that you wish to cancel by pressing the transaction number button at the left of the page. You will then see detailed information about that request.
  • Press the "Cancel Request" button in the top right hand corner of the page. This will automatically cancel the request.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear displaying a message confirming the cancellation of your request.
  • You can resubmit cancelled requests by selecting the "View/All Requests" button.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Changing a Password

  • Logon to the ILLiad system using your current username and password.
  • Once logged on, the Main Menu will appear. Scroll down the page and select the button "Change Password" located under "Tools."
  • Enter your current password and then your new password.
  • Press the "Submit Information" button.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear displaying a message confirming that your password has been successfully changed.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Remember: Passwords are case sensitive.

Changing Your User Information

You can change the following information by choosing "Change User Information":

  • Name
  • E-Mail Address
  • Daytime Phone
  • Mailing Address
  • Status

To change your user information:

  • Logon to the ILLiad system using your username and password.
  • Once logged on, the Main Menu will appear. Scroll down the page and select the button "Change User Information" listed under "Tools.".
  • Edit the fields you would like to change.
  • Press the "Submit Information" button.
  • The Main Menu will then reappear.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Electronic Delivery

  • Logon to the ILLiad system using your current username and password.
  • Once logged on, the Main Menu will appear. Scroll down the page and select the button "View/Electronically Received Articles."
  • You can view an electronically received article by simply pressing its corresponding PDF icon.
  • Once you view an article it will remain in your ILLiad account for a period of 30days.
  • You can delete articles by pressing the "Delete" button or you can save them to your PC or an external drive by right-clicking and the PDF icon and then selecting "Save Target As."
  • Whether or not you take the initative to download and save your articles or manually delete them yourself, all articles will be automatically deleted after 30 days.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad please exit by pressing the button labeled "Logoff [followed by your Mville ID number]" at the top left of the Main Menu.
  • If you are using a public access workstation, you should clear your Web browser's history file and exit from the browser.

Explanation of Statuses

ILLiad uses various statuses to track Interlibrary Loan requests. These statuses, listed below, may be used to pinpoint the exact location of any given item at any given time. Please note that these statuses reflect the actions of the requesting customer as well as those of the ILL staff.

Awaiting Copyright Clearance
This article request has been submitted by the customer and it is awaiting copyright processing to determine if any copyright fees need to be paid.

Awaiting ALA Processing
This item cannot be requested via OCLC. It will now be processed as an ALA (American Library Association) request and sent via fax to a potential lender.

Awaiting Customer Contact
This requested item has arrived and has been processed by the ILL staff, but we have not yet contacted the customer to inform him/her that the item has arrived.

Awaiting Doc Provider Processing
This article request has been submitted by the customer. It has been determined in the copyright clearance process that copyright fees must be paid and the only method available to do so is through a commercial document provider. The item will next be requested from one of these document provider sources.

Awaiting Other Request Processing
This requested item has been submitted by the customer and has gone through the copyright clearance process, if necessary. It is now ready to be searched and requested from potential lenders.

Awaiting Post Receipt Processing
This requested item has arrived, but has not yet been processed by the ILL staff.

Awaiting Request Processing
This requested item has been submitted by the customer and has gone through the copyright clearance process, if necessary. It is now ready to be searched and requested from potential lenders.

Awaiting Return Label Processing
This item has been returned to the ILL office by the customer. It is currently awaiting return processing so that it can be returned to the lender.

Cancelled By Customer
The customer has cancelled this request and no longer requires the requested item.

Cancelled By ILL Staff
This request has been cancelled by the ILL staff. The reason for this cancellation may be found in ILLiad by pressing the "View/ Cancelled Requests" button and looking at the detailed information for the cancelled item.

Note: If one of your requests is cancelled by the ILL staff, ILLiad immediately sends you an e-mail message explaining why
the item was cancelled.

Checked Out to Customer
The requested item has arrived, has been processed by the ILL staff, and has been checked out by the customer or by one of his/her proxies. Until the item's status is changed to "Item Checked In", the customer is responsible for the item.

Customer Notified via E-Mail
The requested item has arrived, has been processed by the ILL staff, and the customer has been notified of it's availability via E-Mail.

Customer Removed from System
This customer has been deleted from the ILLiad system. Potential reasons for this might include ineligible status, duplicate customer records, or temporary suspension of ILL priviledges due to unpaid fines.

Delivered to Web
The requested item has arrived, has been processed by the ILL staff, and has been posted to the requesting customer's personal ILLiad page, where it may be viewed and/or downloaded electronically via Adobe Acrobat.

In Print Queue
The requested item has arrived and has been partially processed by the ILL staff. It is currently awaiting the printing of its ILL identification label.

In Return Address Print Queue
The item has been returned to the ILL office by the customer. It has been checked in and is awaiting the printing of its return address label.

Incorrect Item Received and Returned
An item was received that does not match the item that was requested. It has been returned to the lender and the original item will be re-requested.

Item Checked In
The item has been returned to the ILL office by the customer and the item has been checked in. It is now ready for return processing.

Item Returned
The item has been returned to the lender.

Received Incorrect/Partial Item
An item was received that either does not match the item that was requested or is incomplete. The ILL staff will determine the quickest means to correct this.

Request Finished
The entire request process has been completed successfully. Requests with this status are archived under the "View Request History" button.

Note: Cancelled requests are not at "Request Finished" status and thus do not display under "View Request History".  Cancelled requests may be found under the "View/Cancelled Requests" button.

Request Held Until...
This status is used to hold a request for later processing. This is used mostly in December when Interlibrary Loan services cease over the holidays. Requests are held until they can be processed in January of the following year. This status may also be used to hold difficult requests until we receive more information.

Request In Processing
This request is being processed at this moment.

Request Sent
This request has been sent to several owning libraries and ILL is waiting for a response.

Submitted by Customer
This request has been submitted by the customer and is awaiting processing by the ILL staff.
